Good Morning, As a child, one of my most endearing memories is of when I fell off my bicycle, while riding in front of my home. In an unlikely and unexpected response, my grandmother would tell me, “get up and try again.” I would literally fall and start crying, but with fidelity, she would say the same thing over and over again, “get up and try again.” The Canaanite woman reminds me of this. This woman was rejected by Jesus upon her seeking his assistance in healing her daughter, yet she kept trying. Her “obnoxious faith” as Pastor Michael Warnock calls it made her resilient in asking for what she needed. Even when Jesus said she wasn’t worthy of such healing, her faith pushed her to try again. Her “obnoxious faith” gave her exactly what she needed from Jesus. She pressed on without delay and without care. The poet Maya Angelou once said, “In life, we may encounter many defeats,” but it is up to us that we are not defeated. When we believe in the promises of God relentlessly, we can receive all that we were promised. Today’s sermon will help you stay persistent even when it feels like the world is against you.
